SCOTLAND

Every kid in my class draws countries out of a hat. Each person would be assigned to write a report on that country. My country was Scotland. Here's my presentation about Scotland:

Halo, caraid. ✋That means, "Hello, friend" in Scottish Gaelic. Scotland's Prime Minister is Theresa May. Scotland imports Cattle milk, Barley, and meat. Scotland currency is the Pound Sterling $. Scotland is a part of the United Kingdom. It has recently fought for independence, but was not successful. 2% people work in farming, 20% people work in manufacturing, and 78% people work in services. (That's a lot of services!) Saint Andrew's day is a popular holiday celebrated in Scotland. Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland. Scotland's flag is a white X on a blue back round.

The White X is a symbol of Sant Andrew. Popular foods eaten in Scotland include Haggis, Cock A Leekie, and Cranachan. Cock A Leekie is a dish that contains Leeks, peppered chicken stock, and sometimes rice or Barley. Delicious Scottish broth. Cranachan is a dessert that includes whipped cream, whisky, honey, and fresh raspberries. The primary language spoken in Scotland is English. If you remember towards the beginning of my report, I said hello, friend in Scottish Gaelic. Scottish Gaelic is rarely ever spoken in Scotland. Only a few people speak this traditional language in Scotland.  Mar sin leat! That means, "Good bye" in Scottish Gaelic.
